Educating the educators
Vocational teachers and trainers can now have the opportunity to learn about how to develop e-learning and other technologies for teaching thanks to a new project called i-EDUCATE funded by the European Union's Leonardo Fund.
The purpose of the project is to educate vocational teachers in technologies and innovations for learning and prepare them to get better connected with a new generation of learners. The project will offer teachers across Europe and the UK the opportunity to get free training and experience in developing e-learning through a virtual teacher training island, live training courses and workshops, an e-learning course and interactive community web 2.0 site.
This ambitious project is backed by a partnership of organisations across Europe including Sweden, Germany, Spain, Hungary and Bulgaria and will be lead by a Coventry based organisation called E-Learning Studios. Nitin Thakrar from E-Learning Studios says: “We will seek to break the mould of the e-learning market and enable it to become better, cheaper, quicker and easier for all educators to impart their knowledge to learners through e-learning.”
