elearning authoring tool that outputs in html
part of the business has no flash capability and we are looking for an elearning authoring tool, such as lectora, which will out put in either html or flash.... we are looking at lectora but wanted to see if there are any other choices

Thanks for all your responses
Thanks for all your responses - we have got Lectora, but again, the tool borders on being quite complicated as a rapid solution for the non-techsavvy individual.
Luckily we seem to be moving more towards haveing a better flash capability so we'll probably use articulate, as it's the most user friendly tool I've found so far.
Nice summary! E-Learning
Nice summary!
E-Learning authoring tools are part of a larger organizational infrastructure and learning ecosystem which typically includes hardware, software, content delivery mechanisms, and processes that support the delivery and management of learning programs. This includes authoring_tools1everything from hardware such as servers and workers’ desktop computers, software such as learning management systems (LMSs) and authoring applications, delivery mechanisms such as routers and network wiring, and services and processes such as systems administration and the help desk.

Proform by Rapid Intake
Proform by Rapid Intake (http://www.rapidintake.com/) is another authoring environment that can output AICC or SCORM. It is a WYSIWYG editor that is relatively simple to use. Final content delivery is in flash.

You may want to look at EnlightKS. Last year I worked with KnowledgeSolutions' own software. It is primarily for screen capture type work, but can do material of your own devising. It's a bit peculiar to work with, but it does work.
However, compared to Lectora, which is far more widely used, integrates Flash quite well if required (something for the future?) and perhaps rather better documented, I'm not so sure there is so much to recommend it.
I've possibly not added a great deal to this particular debate {ahem}.

I last looked at this issue
I last looked at this issue about a year ago and can recommend Lectora based on our company experience.
Lectora will output HTML based courses that work happily on IE6+ and Firefox 2+, plus we have done some motr limited testing with Safari and Opera which both seem to behave too.
You can extend the available learning interactions with your own written in JavaScript. We've implemented quizzes and very simple games such as hangman and a crossword puzzle that function in Lectora without Flash.
I should disclose that my company do supply Lectora to some of our clients and that we sell services help people get going with it, but I like to think that this doesn't cloud my judgement too much.
I hope this helps, David.
thanks for your suggestions.
thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately the skills sets of the designers would not stretch to building web pages themselves, so we need a rapid tool.
I'd also checked the c4lpt website before I posted the query, and there was limited choice for html tools.
I'll have a look at the other suggestions,
Sam

I'm sure some will output to HTML.
Hi Sam, have you thought
Hi Sam,
have you thought about creating a series of modules internally using HTML and XML? You could create series of template designs that could then be used many times, it would not be an off the shelf solution but there are some ways in which you can get the output you need.
I'm not sure what level of functionality you need for the users but you could use a number of available web design apps and then complete the SCORM tagging etc at the end?
We've just done something similar using a set of standard designs.
