Laura Overton in the hot seat

Laura Overton, completes the line-up for the eLN's one-day conference, Building Learning Communities, on April 18th in London. Laura will be interviewed by Joe Quilter about her work helping companies impact business performance through the appropriate use of learning technologies. Laura has over two decades of experience in the corporate elearning industry, helping adopters of workplace elearning develop sustainable elearning strategies aligned to business objectives.
She is currently based at e-Skills UK (the Sector Skills Council for IT and Telecoms) where she is, leading the Towards Maturity Project, which aims to identify and share effective elearning practices amongst employers and learning providers responsible for delivering effective skills to the workplace.
She is the co-author of ‘Towards Maturity,’ an extensive study into effective elearning practices in the workplace (published by e-Skills UK in Feb 07) and author of ‘Linking Learning To Business,’ looking at good practice from 16 successful elearning organisations (Jan 04).
Laura also works with trade bodies to ensure that good practice is also shared amongst elearning providers looking to provide more effective support and services to the UK corporate market. She has also taken a leading role with elearning initiatives associated with the European Commission and contributed to elearning recommendations for the UK’s Learning and Skills Council (LSC), both in her current project and as a member of the original advisory board to the LSC.
Laura is a Fellow of the Institute of IT training and of the British Institute of Learning and Development. She is a regular contributor to industry magazines and conferences.
