Take a quick look at LearningAge Solutions’ website and you will immediately see that Rob Hubbard’s approach to elearning design and development is straight forward and a little different.
Rob’s company offers a range of elearning services from consultancy and instructional design to blended and rapid elearning. They firmly believe in keeping it simple while using engaging techniques like scenario-based learning, storytelling and drama.
Rob said: “When learners are immersed in this way they pay attention, take more in and retain it for longer. And the great thing is, this approach does not require complicated technology or huge budgets, just a bit of creativity.”
Rob calls himself an elearning architect. He has run his own business in Warwickshire for the past three years, with clients in both business and the public sector. He specialises in making concepts easy to understand and finding the optimum training solution, which, he hastens to add, is not always elearning.
Rob’s website is not merely a showcase for his own business but a source of valuable information and resources including links to useful sites, inspirational books, films and best practice bites.
Rob joined the eLearning Network 18 months ago after hearing about its benefits from a colleague. He is now a regular figure at eLN events and seminars and takes an active role within the eLN.
“Working for myself, I don’t often get to discuss developments within the elearning industry with peers,” he said. “But through my eLN membership, I get to rub shoulders with and pick the brains of the best in the industry. I find I often get as much insight from the people I meet at the events as I do from the speakers.”
He has seen a large increase in demand for elearning content this year and hopes that the smaller operators like himself with lower overheads, will become more attractive as companies find they can provide the same quality and level of service as the larger development houses. “It’s shaping up to be an interesting year!” he concluded.
