Mobile Learning debate at Learning Technologies, January 27th

Following the phenomenal success of the inaugural E-Learning Debate at The Oxford Union in September, eLN member Epic is staging another debate in the seminar theatre at Learning Technologies, London Olympia, on Wednesday 27th January.

The motion is: ‘This house believes that learning on smart phones is less about new technology than it is about a new approach to pedagogy’.
Professors John Traxler and Mike Sharples, acknowledged experts in mobile learning, will lead the arguments For and Against, accompanied by Kim Whittlestone of the Royal Veterinary College and Dr Mike Short of O2.

This is an ideal opportunity to listen to and challenge leading thinkers in mobile learning at what promises to be a lively and indeed timely debate, as 2010 is expected to be the year mobile learning using smart phones finally takes off. The ‘UK e-learning Market 2009’ report by Learning Light concluded that: “mobile learning was finally becoming of age, after several false starts”.

Attendance at the debate, which takes place from 11.30 until 12.30 pm on the first day of Learning Technologies, is completely free, and will continue online afterwards at www.elearningdebate.com.
