Effective real-time online delivery

Date:

Time:
11.00am - 12.00pm BST
Venue:
Online
Overview:

Many tools exist for online delivery of material via webinars and web conferences. The trouble is; how do you engage with your audience and get them to take notice? You can’t see them so they may be checking their email, writing a report or having a nap while you do your best to deliver your carefully designed material.

Great online delivery and facilitation takes practice. In this series of webinars during the month of May, we will learn from some of the best online presenters as they share their tips for designing sessions, preparing to deliver, making the learning active and maintaining audience engagement online. The next session will be delivered by Phil Green of Onlignment who will be revealing insider secrets on how to keep learners engaged during webinars and virtual classroom sessions. Webinar 2: Wednesday 16 May 2012, 11.00am – 12.00pm BST
How to keep your audience engaged in a live online lesson or presentation

Much of what passes for dialogue online is in fact a one way channel; the presenter speaks and the audience listens (or more likely gets on with something more useful and enjoyable). Occasional token use is made of the interactive tools built in to web-conferencing systems, for example chat, polling and whiteboard with markup tools. Often this comes from an uneasy sense that one ought to be doing something a little more inventive, ambitious and stimulating, but what? Engagement is a product of what the participant does; not what the presenter does alone. In this short session Phil Green will attempt to keep you engaged by demonstrating some methods by which to engage an audience live online.

This session will cover:
• How to make live online learning interactive
• How to engage with an audience you can't see
• How to compensate for loss of eye contact and body language
• How to achieve results with online learning without compromising on what you’re used to obtaining face-to-face
